Organize Your pantry

I organize my pantry with Nicholas’s food in baskets on it’s own shelf to keep his foods separate from ours. I label all of his containers with the brand name, the item, the expiration date and what food allergen’s it contains, if any.

Once I find something that works for Nicholas and his diet, I keep an updated Master Inventory Shopping List in a binder. I make copies of my list and check off the items I need that I can take with me when I go shopping. I also keep a back up list on my smart phone. I keep another list of the items with their ingredient and nutritional support labels in a binder so that I can go back and refer to it if needed. When eliminating particular ingredients, it helps that I can easily access what foods my son is eating to check if it contains a particular ingredient or something that we are trying to eliminate. I print most items for my list with their ingredient labels right from the brand’s website.

It’s a good idea to keep a binder for your child’s meal and supplement plan as well, so that another care giver will know what your child is allowed, or supposed to have. Make sure the supplement doses and times are listed. I would also add a list of restrictions from your child’s diet to the binder as a reminder, especially for caregivers.

When will you see results?

The results will vary from child to child as you are eliminating toxins from their diet. How quickly you will see results may depend on the amount of toxins your child has previously built up in their body, that have been causing negative behaviors. Although some may see positive changes within the first week of using this diet, you need to give the diet 3-6 months to work before you give up on it. Be patient. It can take up to a full year to see the complete benefits of the diet. Sometimes, at the start of the diet, you may notice some increased negative behaviors as their bodies are detoxing the toxins. This too shall pass.

*TIP*
Keep a Food, Poop, Behavior Journal!

I advise you to get a Journal to keep track of your child’s daily food intake, stools (Consistency and how often) and any negative behaviors you’ve noticed (Tantrums, ticks, stims). This can be helpful to share with your child’s doctor and will also help you to notice and keep track of any changes in behavior or stools after eating particular foods. Label 3 columns on a sheet of paper and make copies as needed. Keep in a binder to go back and refer to it when needed.

1.Write down everything your child eats during the day.
2.Mark down the times your child has a stool and explain the consistency.( The humorous, yet informative book, ”What does your poo tell you?” may help you to analyze it.)
3.Note any behavioral issues that you may have noticed that day.
